Thailand's Bank of Thailand calendar lists 18 bank holiday dates for 2027 (Buddhist year 2570). Songkran runs from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 April. Makha Bucha falls on Sunday 21 February, with a substitute bank holiday on Monday 22 February. Asanha Bucha falls on Sunday 18 July, with a substitute bank holiday on Monday 19 July, which is also Khao Phansa (the start of Buddhist Lent).
The bank holiday calendar is official, but the final government holiday schedule may include additional dates. Check for government announcements before making plans.
The Bank of Thailand published the 2027 bank holidays in August 2026. The cabinet usually approves the government list, and any extra 'special' days off, near the end of the year. As of 5 November 2026 that has not happened yet, so this page may still change.
When certain public holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday, a substitute day off may be provided on the following working day.

July is worth noting. Asanha Bucha falls on Sunday 18 July, and the bank calendar provides a substitute holiday on Monday 19 July. Khao Phansa, the beginning of Buddhist Lent, also falls on Monday 19 July.
Do not assume Tuesday 20 July is an additional public holiday unless the government officially announces it.
Not every workplace in Thailand follows the same holiday calendar.
If you need to visit a bank, government office or immigration office, check its opening schedule before travelling.
Travel tip: Songkran and New Year are among Thailand's busiest travel periods. Book flights, trains, buses and accommodation early, especially if travelling between Bangkok and popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Phuket or Pattaya.
Several important Buddhist holidays in Thailand follow the lunar calendar, so their dates change every year.
In 2027, the main Buddhist holidays include:
These are important religious occasions. Many Thai people visit temples, make merit and participate in candlelight processions.
Alcohol sales on Buddhist holidays
Thailand restricts alcohol sales on five major Buddhist holidays:
The restrictions generally apply to ordinary shops and retailers. However, certain legally exempt locations, including qualifying hotels, licensed entertainment venues and international airport passenger areas, may still sell alcohol.
Travellers should check the latest regulations and individual venue policies before making plans.
