Team Thailand: The Final Push

Thailand’s three-person delegation has put in a massive shift over the last ten days. While they aren't atop the podium, their results against world-class competition have been a significant step forward for the program.

The Chanloung Siblings (Cross-Country Skiing)

Mark and Karen have completed their primary individual schedules. Both athletes achieved finishes that surpassed their initial world rankings entering the games.

Karen Chanloung: On February 12, Karen delivered one of the best performances for Thailand in recent history, finishing 84th in the Women’s 10km Freestyle. Remarkably, she was the 7th highest-ranked Asian athlete in the field.

Mark Chanloung: Mark has been the busiest, competing in three grueling events:

  • Feb 8: 71st in the Men's Skiathlon.
  • Feb 10: 69th in the Men’s Sprint Classic.
  • Feb 13: 77th in the Men’s 10km Interval Start.

Fabian Wiest (Alpine Skiing)

The 17-year-old phenom made his Olympic debut this past week, showing great promise despite the unforgiving ice of the Stelvio course.

  • Feb 14: Fabian successfully completed both runs of the Giant Slalom, finishing 60th overall with a total time of 2:50.81
  • Feb 16: In yesterday’s Slalom, Fabian unfortunately joined a long list of veteran skiers who did not finish (DNF) after a challenging first run.

Where to Watch the Final Events in Thailand

With the Closing Ceremony approaching on February 22, there are still marquee events like the Men’s Ice Hockey playoffs and Figure Skating finals to catch. Italy is 6 hours behind Thailand, meaning you can catch the prime action during your evening commute or dinner.

1. Streaming & TV Broadcasts

  • TrueVisions: They remain the primary rights holder in Thailand for 2026. Catch the action on True Sports channels (666, 667, 668) with a mix of live coverage and curated highlights.
  • AIS PLAY: Still the go-to for mobile users. They are hosting dedicated Olympic pop-up channels that stream multiple disciplines simultaneously.

2. Best Sports Bars in Bangkok for the Finals

If you want to catch the final medal rounds of the hockey tournament (Feb 20–22), these spots are your best bet:

  • The Sportsman (Sukhumvit Soi 13): The "hub" for Winter Games fans. They have the most comprehensive schedule of live replays for those who missed the late-night Italian sessions.
  • The Clubhouse (Sukhumvit Soi 23): Great for the Figure Skating finals, which typically air during Bangkok’s late evening.

Why It Matters

Thailand may be known for its beaches, but these three athletes have proven that the "Land of Smiles" can hold its own on the ice. Karen’s top-10 finish among Asian competitors on February 12 is a particularly proud moment that will likely be the headline of the post-Games report.
