The Tourism Authority of Thailand hosted the Middle East and Africa Trade Meet 2026 (MTM): Bangkok Edition on 16 June 2026 to connect international buyers with Thai tourism suppliers. The event followed a wider buyer programme around Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2026 held from 10 to 12 June 2026 in Pattaya, Chon Buri.

What's happening

TAT staged MTM 2026 at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok on 16 June 2026 as a focused business-to-business platform for travel industry professionals from the Middle East and Africa. The Bangkok meeting formed part of a linked buyer programme that included Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2026 in Pattaya from 10 to 12 June 2026 and a VIP open house at Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya on 12 June 2026. Representatives from airlines and travel companies joined TAT in bringing delegations from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa to meet Thai tour operators and hospitality providers.

What this means for travellers

For visitors, the meeting signals that Thailand is actively adapting products to meet demand from Middle Eastern and African markets. Expect faster product rollouts that reflect regional preferences such as family-friendly hotel packages, enhanced wellness and medical tourism services, and more options for luxury travel and shopping experiences in Bangkok and Pattaya. Airlines that supported the buyer programme, including Air Arabia and Oman Air, may expand connectivity or promotional seats linked to these partnerships.

What this means for you: if you travel from the Middle East or Africa, you may see more tailored itineraries, clearer information about services such as halal dining and family facilities, and promotional packages that bundle beach, wellness, and city experiences. If you are planning a Bangkok or Pattaya trip, look for new combined offers that aim to make transfers and multi-night stays easier to book.

Plan around it

Practical steps to take if you are planning travel to Thailand as a result of these trade actions:

  • Check flight options and schedules from carriers serving your market. Support from regional airlines during the buyer programme suggests they are active partners in promoting routes between the Middle East, Africa, and Thailand.
  • Ask hotels and tour operators about specific services you need. If you require halal meals, family rooms, or medical tourism arrangements, contact providers directly to confirm offerings and any accompanying documentation or pre-booking requirements.
  • Use official tourism resources when researching packages. TAT initiatives often bring new products to market first through trade channels, then to public platforms. Request full package details and cancellation policies before you book.
  • Plan transfers between Bangkok and Pattaya carefully. The buyer programme highlighted Pattaya as a quality destination for families and resort stays. If you intend to combine city time in Bangkok with beach time in Pattaya, compare transfer options and hotel check-in policies to avoid long waits.

These trade meetings aim to convert market interest into concrete travel products. For travellers this should translate into clearer, market-specific choices and more packaged itineraries that match expectations for standards, meals, and activities.
