TransNusa Airlines started a twice-daily direct Jakarta–Bangkok service on 6 August 2026, operating an Airbus A320-200. The new route provides 14 weekly flights between the two capitals.

What's happening

TransNusa offers two non-stop rotations daily between Jakarta and Bangkok. The service uses an Airbus A320-200 and runs 14 flights each week. Scheduled departures from Jakarta are at 08:20 and 16:40 Hrs., arriving in Bangkok at 11:45 and 19:55 Hrs. Return flights leave Bangkok at 12:30 and 20:40 Hrs., arriving in Jakarta at 16:10 and 00:20 Hrs. The launch flight on 6 August 2026 was marked by a formal welcome at Suvarnabhumi Airport attended by Indonesian and Thai officials.

What this means for travellers

The extra frequency increases seat options for Indonesians travelling to Bangkok and gives leisure and business travellers more flexibility when planning short trips or multi-destination itineraries. Morning departures from Jakarta arrive in Bangkok before midday, which helps visitors make the most of arrival day, while late-afternoon departures support evening connections and onward flights. If you plan to visit other parts of Thailand, consider combining this route with short domestic hops or land transfers. Read our guide on How to Get to Chiang Mai from Bangkok? for quick onward travel options. Travellers bringing animals should review requirements in Bringing Pets to Thailand in 2026: Rules, Airlines & Vet Costs before booking. Once you arrive, use our Transportation in Bangkok: How to Get Around the City Easily guide to choose the fastest route between Suvarnabhumi Airport and your hotel.

Plan around it

Book smart: peak demand on a new direct route can push fares up for some dates, so check weekday and off-peak options if your schedule allows. If you expect to stay several days, pick a neighborhood that balances transit access and attractions; our list of Most Convenient Areas to Live in Bangkok (BTS/MRT) also helps short-term visitors choose a base with easy rail links. Suvarnabhumi connects to the city by airport rail, taxis and express buses, consult the transportation guide for transfer times and costs.
