Long time expat in Thailand, loving the food and activities option Thailand has to offer.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand launched Nihao Month 2026 to drive visits from China around the Mid-Autumn Festival and Golden Week. The campaign began on 15 September 2026 and combines digital promotions, on-ground privileges and cultural engagement to keep demand rolling into early 2027.
TAT announced the third edition of its Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn initiative as Nihao Month 2026. The expanded programme brings four strands together: online conversion and sales, visitor privileges at destinations, cultural exchange activities and influencer-led storytelling. The authority aims to leverage festival travel patterns to rebuild and sustain Chinese outbound demand through Golden Week and toward Chinese New Year in January and February 2027. Public and private partners will support targeted marketing on Chinese platforms and on-the-ground services designed to convert interest into bookings and visits.
If you travel to Thailand from China in the coming weeks and months expect more promotional offers and festival-focused experiences. Hotels, tour operators and retailers are likely to run targeted packages and time-limited discounts where demand spikes. On arrival you may notice extra Mandarin-language staff, themed events linked to the Mid-Autumn Festival and designated visitor privileges at attractions and shopping venues. Sellers will focus on converting interest into bookings, so flash deals and limited-time bundles may appear on Chinese travel apps and social platforms.
For families and group travellers the campaign can mean more curated itineraries that highlight festival activities, food experiences and photo-friendly moments. For independent travellers the practical upside is clearer access to festival programming and more Mandarin signage or guides at major sites. Keep an eye on official channels for verified offers and confirm inclusions before you book.
Plan early and check availability. Festival periods and Golden Week typically push flight and hotel demand. Book flights and accommodation as soon as your dates are firm and compare package offers against standalone options. If you want quieter travel days, avoid the center of national and regional holiday windows when attractions and airports run at higher capacity.
Use official channels for deals and confirmations. When you see an offer on a social platform, confirm details with the hotel or tour operator directly, including any redeemable vouchers, included meals or pick-up services. Expect festival pop-ups and special menus at restaurants; call ahead for reservations if you plan to eat at popular spots. Carry printed or screenshot copies of vouchers to speed redemption at busy counters.
Travel documents and entry rules remain essential. Check visa requirements and Thailand’s entry guidance before travel. Buy flexible tickets or travel insurance that covers festival-related disruptions. If you prefer Mandarin services, seek hotels and tours that advertise bilingual staff or China-facing customer support. Finally, allow extra time for airport and attraction queues during peak days and confirm meeting points for any guided activities.
