Thapae East

Thapae East is a live music bar and creative space on Tha Phae Road, between the Old City and the Ping River. The room has a rustic, industrial look with exposed brick, and the musicians play close to the audience.

Local and visiting acts play jazz, blues, funk and soul, and guests are sometimes invited on stage to play or sing with the regulars. On Friday nights the Chiang Mai Blues band takes the stage. Music carries on even on quieter weeknights.

Drinks are reasonably priced and the crowd mixes locals, expats and travellers. It is within walking distance of many Old City guesthouses, and craft beer is not on the menu.
