Each day in Thailand has its own traditional colour: Sunday is red, Monday yellow, Tuesday pink, Wednesday green, Thursday orange, Friday light blue and Saturday purple. These colours are linked to the day of the week, not the year. Thai astrologers also publish annual lucky-colour charts for work, money and love, but these are different from the traditional weekday colours. The 2027 (2570) charts are not yet available as of 5 November 2026.
These are traditional birthday and weekday colours in Thai culture. Unlike annual lucky-colour predictions, they stay the same from year to year.
Thai astrology traditionally recognises eight day divisions rather than seven. Wednesday is divided into daytime and nighttime. People born between 18:00 on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday are considered Wednesday night births (วันพุธกลางคืน), associated with Rahu.
Unlike Wednesday daytime, which is represented by green, Wednesday night is commonly associated with grey or black.
The traditional Thai weekday colours are connected to Hindu astrology and its planetary deities. Each day is associated with a celestial body and a deity, which gives the day its symbolic colour.
This tradition became part of Thai culture and is still widely recognised today.
In Thailand, your birthday can determine your traditional colour. Many Thai people know the colour associated with the day they were born and may wear it on special occasions.
Royal birthdays have also influenced the use of certain colours across the country. Yellow is associated with King Vajiralongkorn, who was born on a Monday, while light blue is associated with Queen Sirikit, who was born on a Friday.
For this reason, yellow and light blue are particularly recognisable colours in Thailand during royal celebrations.
Traditional weekday colours are different from Thailand's annual lucky-colour predictions.
Every year, Thai astrologers publish charts recommending colours for different aspects of life, including career, wealth, luck and support from bosses or senior people. These charts also identify colours to avoid, known as Si Kalakini (สีกาลกิณี).
The recommendations can vary between astrologers, so there is no single official chart. It is best to check who created the chart and which year it applies to.
As of 5 November 2026, the annual lucky-colour charts for 2027 (B.E. 2570) have not yet been published.
In previous years, Thai astrologers released their predictions towards the end of the year. We expect the 2027 charts to appear around November or December 2026.
Once a reliable chart becomes available, we will update this guide with the astrologer's name and recommendations for each day of the week.
In the Thai and Chinese zodiac, 2027 (2570) is the Year of the Goat (ปีมะแม).
Although not everyone follows the tradition, weekday colours remain a familiar part of Thai culture. Some people choose their outfits based on the colour of the day, while others wear their birthday colour for important occasions such as job interviews, meetings or special celebrations.
You may also notice these colours in office clothing, social media posts and decorations, especially during important national and royal occasions.
