Sun Heng is a long-running pad thai shop in Mueang Kanchanaburi, set in a two-unit shophouse on the way toward the Lat Ya junction. The family business is said to go back more than 85 years, and its small sign is easy to miss.
The signature is pad thai without noodles, an omelette-style version, alongside classic pad thai with rice noodles or glass noodles, topped with pork or fresh shrimp. Featherback fish cakes, hoi jo crab rolls, dry-fried fish maw and jungle curry are also on the menu. Prices are low, usually around or under 100 baht per person.
There is air-conditioned seating inside and tables outside, with roadside parking. Queues can be long on public holidays.
