Quick answer: there is no Thai lottery draw on New Year's Day. The first draw of 2027 is on Saturday 2 January 2027, with the live broadcast starting at about 14:30 Bangkok time. The Government Lottery Office (GLO) moved it from Friday 1 January because that is New Year's Day, a public holiday. On Thai tickets and in Thai news the date is written as 2 มกราคม 2570: 2027 is the year 2570 in the Thai Buddhist calendar.
| Draw | Usual date | Actual date | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16 December | Wed 16 Dec 2026 | Thu 17 Dec 2026 | Royal cremation of Queen Sirikit |
| New Year | Fri 1 Jan 2027 | Sat 2 Jan 2027 | New Year's Day |
| 16 January | Sat 16 Jan 2027 | Not announced yet | 16 January is Teachers' Day; in recent years this draw moved to the 17th |
| 1 February | Mon 1 Feb 2027 | Not announced yet | Normally no change |
The Thai lottery is drawn on the 1st and the 16th of every month, but when one of those days is a major holiday the GLO moves the draw. 1 January is New Year's Day, one of the biggest public holidays of the year, when government offices are closed and many Thais travel home to their families. Instead of drawing on the holiday, the GLO holds the New Year draw the day after.
This is now a habit rather than an exception: the New Year draw was also held on 2 January in 2025 and in 2026. The GLO announced the 2027 date on 13 October 2026, together with a second change: the draw of 16 December 2026 moves to 17 December because of the royal cremation of Queen Sirikit. See why the December draw is on the 17th.
Nothing else about the New Year draw changes. It is held at the GLO office on Nonthaburi Road (Sanam Bin Nam) in Nonthaburi, broadcast live on TV and online, and the first prize is still 6 million baht on an 80-baht ticket.
16 January is Teachers' Day in Thailand, and in recent years the GLO has moved the mid-January draw to the 17th (it did so in 2024 and in 2026). For 2027 the GLO has not announced it yet. We will update this page as soon as it does. Curious why the date matters? Read why Thailand has two Teachers' Days.
The full results appear here as soon as the GLO publishes them on the afternoon of Saturday 2 January. You can also follow the latest draw on our Thai lottery page.

No. The New Year draw is on Saturday 2 January 2027, because 1 January is New Year's Day.
The live broadcast starts at about 14:30 Bangkok time, and the numbers come in one prize at a time during the afternoon.
Thursday 17 December 2026, moved one day for the royal cremation of Queen Sirikit.
Normally 16 January, but because that is Teachers' Day the draw may move to Sunday 17 January. The GLO has not confirmed it yet; we will update this page when it does.
Thai tickets use the Buddhist calendar, which is 543 years ahead of the Western one. 2570 is 2027.
The Thai lottery of 16 December 2026 is drawn on Thursday 17 December instead, because of Queen Sirikit's royal cremation. Draw time, results and what it means for your ticket.
