EVA Air launched a new four-times-weekly service between Washington Dulles International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on 26 June 2026. The route uses a Boeing 787-9 and gives travellers from the U.S. capital region a one-stop option to reach Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket via Taipei.
The Washington D.C.–Taipei flights operate four times per week. EVA Air deploys a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route, offering Royal Laurel Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. From Taipei the airline and its partners provide onward connections to Thailand, including frequent Bangkok–Taipei services in EVA Air’s Summer 2026 schedule and direct Taipei links to Chiang Mai and Phuket. The new U.S. gateway expands EVA Air’s North American network and creates additional itinerary choices for passengers across the United States and Canada who want a single-connection route to Thailand.
More one-stop options often translate to simpler itineraries and more flight times to choose from. Travellers based in the Washington D.C. area gain direct access to Taipei as a hub, which can cut connection complexity when flying onward to Thailand. If you plan multi-city trips that include Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the Taipei connection can make scheduling easier and may offer more premium seating choices for long-haul comfort. Before booking, compare total door-to-door travel time and connection windows to avoid tight transfers.
For arrivals in Bangkok, use a local transit guide to plan ground logistics and sightseeing efficiently. See Transportation in Bangkok: How to Get Around the City Easily for metro and taxi tips. If your itinerary includes northern Thailand, check routes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai with the guide How to Get to Chiang Mai from Bangkok?. If you plan a trip using the new Washington D.C.–Taipei connection, consider building at least a comfortable connection window in Taipei to account for immigration and baggage transfer. If you want to break the journey, Taipei offers transit-friendly layover options and city tours that suit overnight stays. When picking accommodation in Bangkok, prioritise locations with easy MRT or BTS access; see Most Convenient Areas to Live in Bangkok (BTS/MRT) for neighbourhood choices near mass transit.
Once in Bangkok, factor in local mobility for short trips and airport transfers. Our transportation guide can help with options from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang.
