About
The Underground Temple Sanctuary
Highlight: Just a short trip from Bangkok, this cave creates a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The main chamber houses over 180 Buddha statues, including a large reclining Buddha. The highlight is the heart-shaped opening in the cave ceiling; when the sun is high, a dramatic shaft of light pierces through, illuminating the golden Buddhas and the curling smoke of incense. It is easily one of the most photogenic spots in Central Thailand.
Opening Time: Daily, 08:00 – 16:00 (Weekdays), 08:00 – 17:00 (Weekends).
Location: Phetchaburi Town (Khao Luang Hill).
How to get there:
- From Bangkok: Take a train from Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue) or a minivan from Mochit New Van Terminal to Phetchaburi town (approx. 2-3 hours).
- Local Transport: From Phetchaburi Train Station or the minivan drop-off, take a local "Tuk-tuk" or motorbike taxi directly to the cave entrance (approx. 10-15 mins).
