Koh Yao Noi (Phang Nga Bay)

For privacy with cinematic scenery, Koh Yao Noi is hard to beat. Sleep in a sea-view villa facing Phang Nga’s karst towers, then charter a longtail from Tha Khao or Manoh Piers to picnic under hong (hidden lagoon) islands like Koh Hong and Koh Pakbia. Depart at first light to have sandbars to yourselves, returning via secret coves as day-trippers arrive. Prices usually range 2,000–3,500 THB for 4–5 hours. The island’s sleepy roads are made for sunrise scooter rides and mangrove-side cafés, while sunset dinners on Pasai Beach keep things quiet and romantic. Plankton displays do occur in the bay on very dark, clear nights, best seen far from village lights with engines and torches off.
