Highlight: Nestled at the foot of Thailand's third-highest mountain, Chiang Dao Cave is a complex of over 100 caves extending 12 kilometers. The main section is lit and features Burmese-style shrines and statues. For the adventurous, you can hire a local guide with a lantern to crawl into the deeper, unlit chambers (Tham Mah and Tham Kaew) to see spectacular crystal formations.
Opening Time: Daily, 07:00 – 17:00.
Location: Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai.
How to get there:
- From Chiang Mai (Nearest Landmark): Take a local bus (orange bus) from Chang Phueak Bus Terminal to Chiang Dao (approx. 1.5 hours, ~40 THB).
- Local Transport: From the Chiang Dao bus stop, hire a yellow Songthaew (taxi truck) to take you to the cave entrance (approx. 5km).
